How this site works

Kerf Index is a reference built from published statements. Kerf Index owns no lasers and runs no burn tests; each page reports what makers and agencies have printed, and no page speaks as a person.

What gets counted

A cell on the board is a laser type plus a job, such as CO2 cutting. A maker statement goes into the cell when the page names the material and the laser type together. Tables count, and so do plain sentences. Silence counts as nothing, not as a no.

Two or more pages saying the same thing gives a YES or NO count. One page gives a grey 1 SOURCE tag. If pages contradict each other, the cell reads MAKERS SPLIT and both sides are quoted. Kerf Index never breaks the tie.

Safety wording

Safety lines are quoted from maker manuals and support pages, from the FDA's laser product pages, and from OSHA's technical manual. The site does not write its own safety advice.

Money

Right now Kerf Index earns nothing: no banners, no sponsored rows, and every outbound link to a maker goes straight to the maker. Should a commission link ever appear, a notice will sit on this page and beside that link before it goes live.

Corrections

Spec pages change. Send the page address and what changed to support@kerfindex.com. Corrections are made against the maker's page, not against forum posts.
