Clear and transparent acrylic
also: plexiglass, PMMA
Clear acrylic is where the laser type decides everything. Blue diode light passes through it, so every maker page read sends clear sheet to a CO2 tube.

Run clear and transparent acrylic through the matcher to add a cut thickness.
What each maker says
Diode, engrave or mark NO x4
Can not directly engrave on transparent materials, like glass and clear acrylic
xTool, Fiber vs CO2 vs diode laser guide (blog), read Nov 5, 2026Transparent Acrylic: NO (diode). Only CO2 lasers work on transparent acrylic.
Monport, CO2, fiber and diode material compatibility guide (blog), read Nov 5, 2026Clear/Transparent (diode): Passes right through (cannot cut/engrave clear acrylic)

Diode, cut NO x3
If you want to cut clear or blue acrylic, you must buy a CO2 laser. Diode beams pass right through clear acrylic without marking it.

Published one-pass cut depth
Only figures a maker prints for this material. Thicker stock may need more passes; no page read gives a multi-pass figure.

Notes from the pages
- One sentence on the OMTech page reads "Diode lasers cut clear acrylic". Its own tables and its buying advice on the same page say the reverse. Kerf Index counts the tables.
Fumes
Every page read treats lasering as a fume source. Match your machine's exhaust figure to an extractor on the fume and room lookup.
