PVC and vinyl
also: Kydex, vinyl records, sign vinyl
Never list. At least one laser maker tells owners not to put this in the machine. Quotes below.
PVC is the material most often named as a hard no, and it is also where maker pages contradict each other most. The table below lists every statement found, for and against.

Run pvc and vinyl through the matcher to add a cut thickness.
What each maker says
Diode, engrave or mark MAKERS SPLIT

Notes from the pages
- Epilog: "Materials, such as Kydex, contain PVC."
- Two maker blog pages list PVC as workable: xTool's July 2026 guide (fiber engraving) and Monport's January 2025 guide (diode engraving). xTool's own support article 363 says the opposite, and adds "To cut this material, please wear a gas mask or use an air purifier." Kerf Index shows the conflict and makes no call.
Fumes
Every page read treats lasering as a fume source. Match your machine's exhaust figure to an extractor on the fume and room lookup.
